A week of power, knowledge and activism
From 1 to 14 March 2026, Wageningen comes together for the Feminist Festival: a week full of talks, meetings and activities about equality, feminism and women’s empowerment. Local organisations join forces to create a diverse programme with space for dialogue, inspiration and critical reflection.

Everyone is welcome to join, listen, ask questions and work together towards a fairer future.

One of the highlights takes place on 6 March at Nu de Toekomst, in the week of International Women’s Day. This special evening focuses on female leadership in practice. We will be in conversation with Marjolein Moorman, who works in politics and public administration towards equal opportunities and social justice every day. She will be joined by inspiring guests from Wageningen and beyond, who share their experiences and perspectives.

An open and welcoming evening for anyone who wants to be inspired and think along about leadership, power and change.

Another highlight takes place on International Women’s Day itself, when writer Daan Heerma van Voss comes to Wageningen in collaboration with the Education Committee of Stichting Beelden op de Berg. In a talk based on his essay, he explores the question why female politicians in the Netherlands so often face extreme hatred.

Using interviews and historical sources, he examines the misogyny behind the attacks on women in powerful positions, such as Sigrid Kaag, Femke Halsema and Sylvana Simons. A sharp and urgent conversation about gender, power and the impact of hate on our democracy.

Keep an eye on the agenda and social media for the full program.
